Our Projects, Together

Dylan Alexander · 'We Values' Small Actions · December 04, 2013

This We Cycle is all about small actions, and this is reflected in the spread of crowdfunding. Indiegogo, GoFundMe, Kickstarter, or one of the many other crowdfunding websites embody what it means to be a part of this cycle. When we donate to the projects or causes on these sites, we are faceless heroes pooling our efforts to reach a common goal.

Small actions matter in this We Cycle and, even if they happen somehow to be big actions, the faceless hero doesn’t announce or publicize them. They’re kept in the background. It’s interesting how this is, in some ways, fueled by  the idea of “I’m Screwed Up, You’re Screwed Up,” which creeps into the consciousness as a WE Cycle progresses. But that’s a discussion for another time.

I’d like to highlight a few funds that are just getting started (as of late November 2013). They’re worth your attention. It’s important that we contribute to projects such as these whenever they can, as the small action help us grow as a generation. That said, here goes:

I don’t think this requires much explanation. What happened in the Philippines was a disaster. The death toll is catastrophic and the population needs our help. Relief funds can be found on both Indiegogo and GoFundMe, and other crowdfunding sites as well. For a list of the multitude of campaigns on Indiegogo, [CLICK HERE]. For a list of those on GoFundMe, [CLICK HERE].

The Bowboard is an intriguing new form of transportation that looks like it could be a lot of fun to use. It combines a bow, frame and spiral gearing mechanism in such a way that, the moment you set foot on the bow, forward motion occurs. To learn more about it, [CLICK HERE].

When power is abused, it’s up to us ordinary folks to set things right. Jim Howe was arrested on November 14, 2013, for “disorderly conduct.” All he was trying doing was bringing his children home from school, but, due to the irregular nature of the school’s new pickup system, this was more difficult than it should’ve been for him. There’s a YouTube video on their GoFundMe campaign that shows you exactly what happened in detail. You can [CLICK HERE] to see the campaign and, if you choose to, support their legal battle, a fight which never should’ve been fought.

We love participatory games in a We Cycle and video games allow that as few other forms of entertainment do.  Sometimes, the experiences games create are just bloody shooting galleries. Other times, they are a sight to behold, up there with some of the great classic films of the past few decades. Reset looks like it could be one of those. If you want to learn more about it, you can [CLICK HERE] and check it out on Indiegogo.

People in a We Cycle love to be involved, love invisible heroes, love the small actions leading to a greater goal. Supporting different crowdfunding projects can be your way of stimulating those “generational urges” of yours. You could even start your own, if you feel like you have something worth funding.
